Quick Introduction
Hello To those That Have never heard of the game of "Skat"
Many have Ask for a Quick explanation of the game and in short How is it played.
Even though the game is a hard game to learn and even harder to master,I will try to simplify it as good as I can.
Its a 3 handed game of 32 cards, each player is dealt 10 cards and 2 are face down in the middle of all 3 players. Those 2 cards are the skat, hens the name of the game.
Now the 3 players bid, using game values as there bid{one must learn the values of types of declared games],the player that bids the highest, becomes the soloist and now plays against the other 2 players that form a team as defense.
As the soloist they have the right to the skat{2 extra cards],they maybe used to exchange any other 2 cards in their hand to improve their hand.
The soloist now has the right to declare the type of game that they will be playing eg.hearts, spades, etc[learn types and values].This announced game must be of equal/higher value of what was bid.
Now that we know who is the soloist and which 2 players are on defense, the skat has been used, and the soloist has declared the game that will be played,we will determine who won or lost by playing 10 tricks out,1 at a time.
The strategy to skat is that the tricks are also valued, all 10 tricks have a value of 120 card pts.{each card has a value assigned to it.eg Ace is 11 and King is 4,one must also learn card values]Of coarse the more tricks one makes the better chances of collecting enough card points. To win the soloist has to make more than 1/2 of the possible card pts.the soloist needs 61 card pts to win.Tie goes to the defense. It is rare but possible to win the hand and accumulate more than 61 card pts with only 2 tricks, which adds to the excitement of the game.
The card pts are counted, determine who won or lost, and enter the game value played on a score sheet ,play 36 hands and determine a winner.
Deal out the next 10 cards.
Hope this helps
Ron
