A young friend of mine ask me How do I become an aggressive player like you.
I told him, you first have to know what a bidding hand is, and then learn to win them. So I gave him my list of hands that one should bid. These are biddable hands and most are 80% winnable. If you are not winning them, you need to strengthen your card play. As a beginner even 50/50 win rate is good. These are min. bid hands, of course min.plus is better. But for me these types of hands are an instant 18, the rest of the hand is immaterial at this point.
4 jacks [that's an easy one]
4 aces
4 sevens
top 3 jacks [this is a min 36 bid]
5 trumps 2 aces
6 trumps 1 ace
7 trump nothing [this one seems to be tough at times]
2 jacks and 4 full ones
1 jack 5 full ones
6 full ones nothing
2 jacks 3 aces
4 trumps 3 aces
rollmops (2 jacks + 2 + 2 + 2+ 2) with 2 aces
These are all great bidding hands and there are many varations to these hands and different ways to play them, but they should all be bid. The real key is that if you make 7 out of 10 tricks you should win. Even if you start your bid making only 5 tricks, after the skat you should have gotten to making 6/7 tricks and if not you still can win with these cards making only 5 tricks. Good luck
